FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE

Blue Wahoos Stadium

Escambia County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast

A 5,038-seat ballpark on Pensacola Bay, home of the Blue Wahoos, a Double-A club of the Miami Marlins.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Blue Wahoos Stadium opened on April 5, 2012, at 351 West Cedar Street, in Community Maritime Park on the Pensacola bayfront, and it holds 5,038 people across 117,000 square feet. It cost just under 24 million dollars to build. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have played here since the first season; they are a Double-A club in the Southern League and an affiliate of the Miami Marlins. The seating bowl is precast concrete and the playing surface is artificial turf. The field carries the name of Admiral Jack Fetterman, a retired Navy vice admiral who pushed the project through. It measures 342 feet down the left field line, 400 to center and 335 to right. What people remember is the view: the park faces Pensacola Bay, so the water sits behind the outfield and the sun goes down over it during a night game. The stadium is used for more than baseball. The University of West Florida football team played here from 2016 to 2021 and won a Gulf South Conference title on the field in 2021, and the building also takes soccer, festivals and graduations
