The gate opens at 7:30 and closes at sunset.
A campground at 7555 US Highway 27 North in Palmdale with tent sites, full-hookup RV sites and new small cabins. Canoes seating three, single and double kayaks and paddle boards are rented for the creek. The outpost is run by Cape Leisure for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and it posts the creek's water levels so paddlers know what they will find.

Oversized lots have full hookups at thirty or fifty amps with room for a rig, a boat and two cars. There is a boat ramp on the canal, fishing from the dock, an activity room for cards and bingo, a bathhouse, laundry and wireless internet at no charge.
A fish camp at 1699 Griffin Road, Moore Haven, started after the Second World War, where people tent camp, park a RV, or rent a cabin or a motel room. There is a boat ramp, boats to rent and a store selling bait, tackle, drinks and snacks. The Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail runs past for walkers and cyclists.
A small resort at Lakeport on the northwest shore of Lake Okeechobee, with cabins, eleven full-hookup RV sites and tent camping. There is a laundry room and a fishing pond of an acre and a half stocked with tilapia, cichlids, bass and catfish. Harney Pond Park next door has boat ramps, picnic tables, restrooms and a boardwalk out to the lake.
