WATER & COAST
Keewaydin Island Beach
Collier County · South Florida & the Keys
An eight-mile barrier island south of Naples with no bridge to it, inside the Rookery Bay reserve, and reached by boat. Camping is allowed year round in the marked areas north of San Marco Road, with no permit and no reservation; sites go in the order people arrive, and they are primitive with no facilities. Camp outside the marked areas and you can be asked to leave. Parts close March through August for nesting shorebirds. Dogs must be leashed, glass is not allowed, and plants, animals and shells stay where they are.
Not identified in this guide as an officially clothing-optional beach. This is a visit category, not a safety rating—check surf, lifeguards, water quality and posted rules.
