WATER & COAST
Cape Romano Beach
Collier County · South Florida & the Keys
The southern tip of the county's coast, inside the 51,470-acre Cape Romano-Ten Thousand Islands Aquatic Preserve and reached only by boat, from ramps at Caxambas, Goodland, Port of the Islands and others. Rookery Bay charges boaters and kayakers nothing to enter. Camping is closed from April 1 through October 31 for nesting sea turtles and shorebirds, though the day is still open. Boaters are told to raise the motor over seagrass. Glass is not allowed and shells stay where they are.
