Barefoot Beach Preserve
Collier County · South Florida & the Keys
A 342-acre preserve at the north end of the county, which Collier County calls one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on Florida's southwest coast. Gopher tortoises live in the scrub behind the dune and there are wildlife viewing stations along the way in. Reached from Bonita Beach Road by way of Lely Barefoot Boulevard, with parking lot 1 as the main entrance and docents there in season. Lounge chairs, umbrellas and cabanas are rented on the sand. Open 8 a.m. to sunset. $10 to park without a Collier County resident beach parking permit. No dogs.
