If your employer or your clients are in another state, ask a tax professional or that state's tax agency whether that state taxes any of your pay.
Other Florida taxes do apply. Retail sales are subject to a 6% state sales tax, plus any local surtax the county charges. The county property appraiser assesses property each year, and the county tax collector collects the tax. If a home is your main home, you may qualify for a homestead exemption worth as much as $51,411 off its assessed value in 2026. The Department of Revenue's Taxpayer Services line is (850) 488-6800, Monday through Friday, except holidays.
