When is the rainy season in Florida?

Florida's year divides by rain more than by temperature. The wet season runs from about the middle of May to the middle of October.

In South Florida the National Weather Service dates it May 15 to October 15, and 60 to 70 percent of the year's rain falls in those five months; around Tampa Bay it starts about May 25, and on the Space Coast around May 28. It is a season of warm, humid days and frequent showers and thunderstorms, and it brings lightning, damaging winds, flooding and now and then hail and tornadoes. It peaks from July into early September, when the heat index often reaches 100 degrees or more. The dry season follows, from the middle of October into May, with far less rain. The wet season overlaps most of hurricane season, which runs June 1 to November 30. If you are timing a visit or a move by the weather, the dry months are the easy ones and the height of summer is the hardest.
