There are two kinds of listing. Most places on the site, such as parks, beaches, campgrounds, places to stay and things to do, are gathered from public sources and published business information; 1stFlorida checks that each place appears real and open, removes ones found closed, and does not inspect, rate or endorse them.
The other kind is a paid position in Local Help, one business per category per county, marked as paid. Before a business takes one, 1stFlorida confirms it is real and operating at the address given, verifies the professional or occupational license the work requires, and speaks to the owner by phone. It does not check insurance, run background checks, inspect premises or recommend one business over another, and it is not a referral service. Before you hire anyone, look up the license yourself: the Department of Health for health professionals, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation for contractors, real estate agents and most trades, The Florida Bar for lawyers, and the Department of Financial Services for insurance agents.
