PARKS & OUTDOORS
Salinas Park
Gulf County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast
A free county beach park on both sides of the Cape San Blas road, with a boardwalk over the dunes and the main horse access to the beach.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Salinas Park is split in two by State Road 30A between Port St. Joe and Cape San Blas, so it has a gulf side and a bay side. On the gulf side a picnic grove leads to a boardwalk that carries walkers over the coastal scrub and dunes to a long open stretch of sand. The surf here is usually small except in a storm, and the bottom shelves gradually, which suits families. The bay side has a kayak launch and trails. Small wooden pavilions stand among the pines and there is a playground. Parking on the gulf side is limited, and the overflow is across the road at the bayside park. This is also the main access point for people bringing horses to the beach, which is one of the things Cape San Blas is known for and which is not allowed at the state park next door. Leashed pets are welcome, unlike at the state park. Entry is free and the park is open around the clock. Vehicles can be driven on the beach from other access points with a county permit, so watch for them
