FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE
Third Street South
Collier County · South Florida & the Keys
The other historic shopping street in Old Naples, quieter than Fifth Avenue and closer to the water.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
People have been coming here since the 1930s, and the character has stayed narrower and more residential than its larger neighbor: tree-lined, heavily planted with flowers, and only a few steps from the beach. Where Fifth Avenue fills up in the evening, Third Street runs more to boutiques and to restaurants people book rather than wander into. Barbatella serves Italian food with handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza. The Continental does American cooking with European influence in it. Courtyards and side alleys run off the main street, which is what gives the district its scale and why it does not feel like a strip. The Third Street Farmers Market is held every Saturday morning from 7:30 until 11:30, from the middle of November through the middle of April, with local produce, flowers, baked goods and work by artisans. That season is the giveaway: this street runs on the winter population, and in August it is a different and much emptier place
