A nightly rate is not the price of the stay, and a scouting trip has questions a vacation does not.
Choose a county to compare distinct hotels, locations and trip styles.
A hotel at 1290 Innovation Drive in north Naples, built around meeting and event space: a boardroom, banquet rooms and a cinema with a large screen. There are pickleball courts, and guests have use of the Arthrex Wellness Center next door, 20,000 square feet and open at any hour, at no charge.
An inn of nine rooms at 407 8th Avenue South, in the heart of Old Naples. There is one king room, four queen rooms, a deluxe queen room, two queen suites and a king suite, and the inn lists each one separately with its own photographs. Its own site states nothing about a pool, kitchens or parking, so none is claimed.

There is an outdoor pool, a whirlpool, and a private dock with a chickee for fishing. A pontoon boat belongs to the resort, and guests may bring their own. Old Marco's shops and seafood places are a walk away.
A family-run hotel a few steps from the Gulf at Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, bought by Robert Moore in 1968 when it was the only motel on that beach and still run by the family. The desk is staffed at any hour.
A resort of 36 villas at 571 West Elkcam Circle on Marco Island. The villas are three-bedroom, 1,650 or 1,900 square feet, sleeping up to eight. A condominium resort standing on the beach at 700 South Collier Boulevard on Marco Island, open more than thirty-five years, with units let by their owners. Guests reach the sand by a boardwalk and are given chairs and umbrellas. There is a pool deck, a fitness room, tennis courts and pickleball courts.

A small beachside resort of 32 units in low buildings at 500 South Collier Boulevard on Marco Island, with its own way onto the sand. Every suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a full kitchen across 1,070 square feet, with a screened balcony or patio. Choose the shortest format that still lets you test ordinary life without racing from one end of Florida to another.
Choose one county and two communities. Use day one for essential routes, day two for neighborhoods and housing, and day three for repeat drives and unresolved questions.
Split the stay between two county areas. Give each finalist two ordinary days, then reserve the final day to revisit the strongest community.
Use two lodging bases rather than crossing the region every day. Compare no more than three counties and protect time for unplanned discoveries.
Leave at the time you would normally travel and use the likely work route.
Drive to the hospital, primary-care area or specialist you expect to use.
Test groceries, pharmacy, fuel and ordinary services—not only dining and attractions.
Measure the full route, parking and realistic departure-time burden.
Check beach, event or tourism traffic when that pattern affects the community.
See lighting, noise, access and neighborhood conditions after dark.
