How do I find a senior center in Florida?

Florida's senior centers are run by nonprofits, cities and counties, and the state Elder Helpline, 1-800-963-5337, can point you to the one near you.

The Florida Department of Health describes senior centers as places that offer programs for older people in five areas: health, including mental health, social, nutrition, education and recreation. The department posts a list of Florida's senior centers on its falls prevention resources page.

The Elder Helpline is part of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, and it can be called from anywhere in the state. Its number can also be dialed as 1-800-96-ELDER. The Helpline sends callers to their local resource office, where case managers can connect them with services.

Florida's Aging and Disability Resource Centers help people 60 and older, and those who care about them, find help with housing, home care, meals, transportation and other needs. The Department of Elder Affairs gives the Elder Helpline number for them.
